In an era where access to information is critical, the role of independent media in the Arab world cannot be overemphasised. Amidst an ocean of misinformation, disinformation, bias, and manipulated narratives, independent media stand as beacons of truth, objectivity, and integrity. The question is not whether we should continue to carry this torch, but how we can shine even brighter to cut through the darkness.

To some, the pursuit of independent journalism might seem futile in a world of tightly controlled narratives. Yet, it is precisely in these challenging contexts where its necessity is most evident. As the champions of democratic and human values, we have a responsibility to tell the stories that may otherwise remain shrouded in the shadows of self-censorship, censorship and oppression.

Societal shackles, relics of a bygone era, still hold sway over large sections of the Arab world, preventing it from fully embracing the promise of the 21st century. Raseef22 plays a pivotal role in challenging these outdated norms

Critics may argue that our efforts are like pouring sweet water in the sea, these critics fail to see that with time, even the saltiest of waters yields to the persistent droplets. Our duty, as journalists, is not to bring instantaneous change but to spark the continuous process of erosion on the structures of the patriarchy, religious dogma, and entrenched social customs that have shaped dormant societies that have yielded to dictators and a corrupt political class that have failed the people of the region and put most of the Arab world at the lower echelons of development.

Societal shackles, relics of a bygone era, still hold sway over large sections of the Arab world, preventing it from fully embracing the promise of the 21st century. However, through our unyielding commitment to unmasking the truth, independent media outlets like Raseef22 play a pivotal role in challenging these outdated norms.

Raseef22, an unwavering advocate for equality, liberty, and progress, is dedicated to equipping citizens with the knowledge necessary to question, challenge, and ultimately overcome these societal barriers. It is in the stories of the marginalised and silenced voices, as well as in the findings of journalism that the true worth of independent media is discovered,

More than ever, we need to amplify our efforts to free the Arab world from the chains of prejudice, the harms of the patriarchy and the grip of fanatical groups that thwart development in the name of religion. Our resilience will ensure that we do not fall behind, but instead stride confidently into an era of enlightenment and progress.

The function we serve is a public service, a vital instrument for democratic discourse and societal advancement. Our mission is not only rewarding but also essential, as it paves the way for a more inclusive, equitable, and just Arabic speaking world.

As journalists and change-makers, we must keep going in our mission of informing the public and holding power accountable as we document events shaping our present and future. The path of independent media is not futile—it is the path of hope

We must never lose sight of the impact we can make, the lives we can touch, and the societies we can transform. Our journalism goes beyond reporting—it is a steadfast commitment to enlightenment, empowerment, and emancipation. The journey is long and arduous, but as we continue to bear witness to the world's events, challenge the status quo, and champion the truth, we fuel the engine of progress.

As journalists and change-makers, we must keep going in our mission of informing the public and holding power accountable as we document events shaping our present and future. The path of independent media is not futile—it is the path of hope. And hope is what will light our way as we tirelessly work to ensure that the Arab world does not just survive, but thrives. The work we do at Raseef22 is more valuable than ever, and together, we can, and will, reshape the narrative.

We need you to join NasRaseef to walk with us towards the future, and if you are a real change maker, we invite you to join our “Inner Circle”, a destination reserved for those who want to work with us on specific themes and causes that matter to them most.

Be the change our good people deserve.

Fighting for human rights

How is justice measured in society? Is it by our ability to express ourselves freely and live our lives with absolute freedom, protected from harm and unjust punishment?

Human rights across much of the Arab world remain precarious, and are often at the mercy of those in power. We at Raseef22 believe that by highlighting our rights, we can change the status quo.
