Job Title: Raseef22 English Editor (Part-Time Role)
Background:
Raseef22 is the leading independent media outlet covering the 22 Arab states and the Arab diaspora, with millions of readers. As a trailblazer in Arabic and English media, Raseef22 is seeking an English Editor to help rebuild, expand, and reinvent its English section. This role demands sharp editorial instincts, a keen eye for detail, and a passion for learning about the Arab world and its diverse peoples. The Editor will be instrumental in positioning Raseef22 English as the leading outlet covering the Middle East and North Africa in English.
Job Requirements:
- Proven journalism track record, preferably in international or regional contexts.
- 3-5 years of editing experience, ideally with large readership outlets.
- Ability to work under tight deadlines, including evenings and weekends.
- Fluency in AP style; familiarity with IJMES Arabic transliteration guide.
- Strong command of English grammar, syntax, and style.
- Deep understanding of the Arab world, its cultures, and politics.
- Experience managing a team of writers/editors.
- Ability to strategize and enhance Raseef22's English section.
- Familiarity with multimedia content production is a plus.
- Fluency in English and Arabic.
Job Responsibilities:
- Edit, proofread, and fact-check content for the English section.
- Curate and manage content, including Arabic-to-English translations.
- Manage the department budget and content calendar.
- Develop and refine Raseef22's English style.
- Oversee English social media channels.
- Report to the editor-in-chief and manage a small production team.
